What’s a security check?
-A DCC Security Team will be checking bags and a walk through scanner will be at the entrance of the Durham Convention Center to look for prohibited items. Such as weapons, outside food and beverage and anything illicit.
What’s a bag check?
-DCC Security will be checking bags for weapons, outside food and beverage and any other prohibited items. A staff member will look inside your bag and use a device to look around.
Can I bring in my water bottle?
- Yes you may bring in an empty water bottle and fill it inside. We will have plenty of water stations.
Can I bring in my snacks?
- If you have a medical/health reason to bring personal sized snacks. i.e. to maintain blood sugar. Inform security upon entering. Otherwise, the Durham Convention Center does not allow outside Food or Beverages.
What if I’m bringing these cookies to my friends in the con space?
-Sorry, no outside food and beverage is allowed within the Durham Convention Center.
What if I need my snack for medical reasons?
-That's fine! See above.
Will they be pulling things out of my bag?
-The Durham Convention Center security will do their best to conduct bag check as minimally invasive as possible. However, this may require moving items within the bag to see the entire contents of your bag.

If you do not have a bag you do not have to go through bag check. However, every attendee will be going through a high traffic walk through scanner which is ADA compliant. In the event the scanner goes off a DCC staff member will use a security wand to clear each person who went through the scanner. While it’s unlikely, they may ask to take off your Fursuit head temporarily,
